Exclusive Moonfall Interview: Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley and Roland Emmerich

2/4/2022 • 3 min read

In MOONFALL, Earth faces destruction when a mysterious force throws the moon out of orbit, placing it on a collision course with the planet. A brave trifecta of Jo Fowler (Halle Berry), Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson), and KC Houseman (John Bradley) must decide whether to run for safety with their families or fight to save the Earth.

Cinemark sat down with the three stars of MOONFALL, and talked to director Roland Emmerich as well. Berry talked about what her character was going through as the earth faces extinction. "I think she, like everyone else, is trying to really understand if this is true and if it’s so, what part can she play in stopping that from happening," she said.

"I think she has a conundrum, though, because she is a mother and these are big decisions and big choices that you have to make but when you're head of NASA and you’re an astronaut and you’re trained to do that, I think the answer becomes clear what she has to do."

So, what’s it like training to play an astronaut on the big screen?

“We had a wonderful French-Canadian astronaut who had done his spacewalk," Wilson said.

"He was able to come and sort of explain some things - what it was really like, what it felt like and kind of guide us, make sure we weren’t totally screwing up. Then we would look at some videos of life on the ISS, the International Space Station and that helped tremendously."

"It’s relatively simple" to shoot the zero-gravity scenes, "because they’re sitting either or hanging on certain apparatuses, so they should actually forget about all of that and act. It worked really well," said Roland Emmerich, the film’s director.
