Bullet Train: Everything You Need To Know

(Updated 07/29/2022)

Brad Pitt is obviously a movie star. In fact, he’s one of the biggest movie stars we have. And yet, a lot of time can pass between the projects in which Brad Pitt really struts like a big movie star. More often than not, he’s out there producing or turning in intriguing supporting roles in interesting projects, like a character actor who isn't one of the most recognizable men in the world.

That’s great, but it’s also a lot of fun to see Pitt fully flex his charm in a meaty leading role. Another fun thing is high-stakes kinetic action leavened with a heavy dose of comedy. All of which brings us to BULLET TRAIN, a movie that has all of the above — and more. Let’s take a closer look to see what this locomotive has in store.

When Is Bullet Train’s Release Date?

You see BULLET TRAIN exclusively in movie theatres starting on August 5, 2022.

While summer is a standard place to position big action films, late summer does seem to be a traditional arena for action with a higher emphasis on comedy, luckily that is totally BULLET TRAIN’s lane, so the final release date is appropriate. One last, big dose of fun before the kids all go back to school!

As you can see, this is going to be a lot of fun. The action looks spry, the comedy feels fresh, and it has a great supporting cast to keep things rocking and rolling. The only thing it doesn’t tell us is what’s in that darn briefcase.

And, yes, that is Sandra Bullock! Fantastic.

What Is Bullet Train About?

It appears to be about a mysterious briefcase!

Okay, more than that, BULLET TRAIN is about a hitman who wants to change his ways in order to lead a less violent life. Of course, this leads to one last job that will require a lot of violence.

The hitman is tasked with boarding a bullet train and retrieving an all-important briefcase. This should be an easy job except the train is full of other assassins with the same objective. So, as you can probably imagine, the whole thing turns into one giant assassin melee. May the best assassin win.

Who Is In Bullet Train?

Clearly, Brad Pitt is the star of the show here. We haven’t seen Pitt in a big leading role since 2019’s AD ASTRA, so that’s a major draw.

But he’s not alone. BULLET TRAIN also utilizes the talents of a great supporting cast including Aaron Taylor-Johnson (KICK-ASS), Masi Oka ("Heroes"), Hiroyuki Sanada (THE WOLVERINE), Logan Lerman (THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER), Brian Tyree Henry (GODZILLA VS KONG), Joey King (THE KISSING BOOTH), and even Sandra Bullock (GRAVITY). That’s quite a crew of rival assassins!

Who Made Bullet Train?

BULLET TRAIN was directed by David Leitch, whose high-caliber action work you know from HOBBS & SHAW, ATOMIC BLONDE, and DEADPOOL 2 — not to mention his help with JOHN WICK. So it’s safe to say if you’re into BULLET TRAIN for the action, you’re in good hands.

BULLET TRAIN opens on August 5.
